Parks and Recreation Plans Input Meeting for Abrams Creek Trail

The Parks and Recreation Department is holding a Public Input Meeting on Saturday October 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Greenwood Mill Elementary School Community Center. This input session will be a part of Redbud Supervisor Blaine Dunn’s Town Hall meeting.

Concept trail plan maps will be presented at the meeting. “We’re excited to continue to refine our plans with input from the public,” according to Jon Turkel, Park and Stewardship Planner for the department. “This event will give us the needed perspective to best serve the community.”

The Abrams Creek Greenway concept consists of a linear shared-use trail approximately 3 miles in length, in eastern Frederick County. The focus at this meeting will be the Phase I development, taking the trail from Meade Drive, near Senseny Road to Woodstock lane. The trail will provide connectivity through this area producing both transportation and recreation benefits. Trailhead parking to enhance access is also being considered. The Abrams Creek Trail is intended to meet the #1 identified recreation need in the county and in the state for current and future area residents.

For more information please contact Jon Turkel, Park and Stewardship Planner. 540-722-8300, jturkel@fcva.us
